FOALING THE MARE COURSE

A one day course designed to give background knowledge & understanding of foaling the mare

 

Course dates: 5th April 2014

 

  • Preparation for a safe foaling
  • Complications of late pregnancy
  • Signs of foaling including use of Foaling Alarms
  • Inducing the mare
  • Normal foaling in the mare
  • How to recognise when something is going wrong & what to do
  • Examination of the placenta
  • Newborn foal examination
  • The orphan foal and adoption

 

FOAL AND YEARLING MANAGEMENT COURSE

 
A one day course designed to give an understanding of foal and yearling care

 

Course date: 6th April 2014

 

  • Worming & Vaccinations
  • Common Diseases
  • Weaning
  • Nutrition & OCD

 

  • Foal Handling & Foot Care
  • How to recognise when something is going wrong & what to do
  • Practical Session: Examination of Foal

These courses, designed for large & small breeders, are delivered by experienced veterinary surgeons and other Equine Reproduction & Stud specialists.

 

Lecture panel includes:  

Dr Jonathan Pycock  MRCVS, Monica Morganti MRCVS, Niamh Lewis MRCVS,  Johanna Vardon MBE of The National Foaling Bank, Louise Jones MSc BSc (Hons) of Dodson & Horrell, and Steve Lloyd RSS, Farrier.

Course Fees: £124 incl VAT per course
(15% discount allowable if booking a place on both courses on 5 & 6 April 2014)
